strawberry swing

i've just watched the strawberry swing video (sorry for the ad pre-roll. youtube are bastards.) from coldplay (yes, i'm far behind the times on popular music. that's what happens when you literally never listen to the radio) and say what you will about their music, love them or hate them you can't deny that this might be one of the best and most innovative music videos ever filmed. i can't remember when i got goose bumps from watching something. it's probably only happened two or three times in my life but this video just left my jaw on the floor.

earworm of the day: american wedding

frank ocean (aka lonny breaux) released his nostalgia, ultra album not long ago. it's alright. while parts of it are amazing, uplifting and beautiful there are more than enough songs that fell off due to laziness. i find it boring lifting entire pieces of music without changing it in any way but i guess that's between frank's lawyers and the artists he jacked. a lot of people seem to love it so good on him for knocking this one out of the park.

american wedding is a direct lift of hotel california, which for the record, i can't stand in the first place. the reason this is stuck in my head is because the last 49 seconds of the track is a little acapella build up that sounds like it would be a killer song if it had been developed a little further. i love how uplifting the message is and the way the harmonies are layered is brilliant. i just kept listening to that last bit over and over again which is apparently the exact same thing everyone else is doing. frank, turn that shit into a full song would you please?

earworm of the day: jump in the pool

Friendly Firesi had a friend that worked for xl and he passed this album my way shortly before it was released. i can't say i loved the whole thing but i can say that it was a refreshing change to most of the indie crap that people were making at the time.

jump in the pool by the friendly fires is infectiously catchy. you might want to see a doctor after listening just to make sure you haven't picked some kind of ass shaking parasite. you've been warned.

earworm of the day: nightshift

Nightshiftmaybe it's the weather or maybe it's just that i've been rather scattered lately but nightshift? where the hell did that come from?

now don't get me wrong, i like the song but for the life of me i couldn't tell you why i've been humming it for as long as i have. it's all about that synth pad and smatterings of funk guitar.

you wanna be down with the king...

The King Of Limbsmy opinion of radiohead has waxed and waned over the years. sometimes i really like what they've done and other times i can't be bothered to give them a second listen. the new album king of limbs is pretty exciting for me because it managed to harness bits and pieces of everything they've been doing for the last six years or so. you can have a listen here if you haven't had a chance yet.

pictures of you, pictures of me...

i've been enjoying instragram for a little while now and thought i'd post some of the random photos i've been taking with it.

it's not a bad little app and the filters are alright. what i enjoy most about it is how many people take photos with better cameras, manipulate the image then post it. it's really inspiring at times.

i've also decided to extend my "wish you were here" posts to instagram. you can find me as anojisho if you'd like to see more of my photos.
